Homemade French Bread

[ INGREDIENTS ]

Fresh Yeast
Warm Water
Hot Water
Sugar
Salt
Coconut Oil
Flour
Egg

 

 

 

[ INSTRUCTIONS ]

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve :
    2 Tablespoons Fresh Yeast;
    in :
    1/2 Cup Warm Water;.
  2. Make sure that your water is warm ( not too cold, not too hot ).
  3. Let proof for 10 minutes.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, combine :
    2 Cups Hot Water;
    3 Tablespoons Sugar;
    2 1/2 Teaspoons Salt;
    1/3 Cup Coconut Oil;
    3 Cups All-Purpose Flour;
    and mix together.
  5. Add the yeast mixture to the bowl.
  6. Add the remaining :
    3 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour;
    one cup at a time, mixing after each addition.
  7. Watch for it to start pulling away from the bowl to know it's ready.
  8. Once all of the flour is added, let sit for 10 minutes.
  9. Separate your dough into 3 pieces.
  10. On a floured surface roll each piece into a 9 inch x 12 inch rectangle.
  11. Roll it up like a jelly roll.
  12. Shape into a french bread loaf and smooth out edges.
  13. Place the dough on a greased baking pan seam side down.
  14. Using a knife, make 3 - 4 diagonal cuts about 1/4 inch thick in bread.
  15. Brush with :
    1 Egg, Beaten;.
  16. Let dough rise uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes in a warm place.
  17. Bake at 375 F or 190 C for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown.
