Sorrel ( Hibiscus ) Tea

Sorrel ( Hibiscus ) Tea
2 quarts / servings

 

[ INGREDIENTS ]

Water
Dried Hibiscus ( Sorrel ) Flowers
Fresh Ginger Slices
Cinnamon Stick
Whole Cloves
Orange Zest
Lemon Zest
Lemon Juice
Demerara Sugar or Honey
Ice
Mint Leaves

 

 

 

[ INSTRUCTIONS ]

  1. In a large saucepan, add :
    2 Quarts Water;
    2 Cups Hibiscus ( Sorrel ) Flowers, Dried;
    1/3 Cup Peeled Fresh Ginger Slices;
    2 - 3 Inch Cinnamon Stick;
    6 Whole Cloves;
    1/4 Cup Grated Orange Zest;
    Grated Lemon Zest;
    Juice of 1 Lemon;
    and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Boil for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat.
  4. Add :
    Juice of 1 Lemon;
    cover tightly, and let stand for 1 to 2 days at room temperature.
  5. Strain and discard the solids.
  6. Sweeten to taste with :
    Demerara Sugar or Honey.
  7. Chill thoroughly.
  8. Serve over :
    Ice;
    Garnish with Mint;.
