[ INGREDIENTS ]

Sourdough Bread
Cheddar Cheese
Swiss Cheese
Eggs
Almond Milk
Sugar
Salt
Ground Nutmeg
Butter
Confectioner’s Sugar
Strawberry Jam

 

 

 

[ INSTRUCTIONS ]

  1. Lay :
    2 Slices Sourdough Bread;
    flat and place :
    1 Ounces Cheddar Cheese, Thinly Sliced;
    2 Ounces Swiss Cheese, Thinly Sliced;
    on top of each slice, keeping the cheese inside the border of the bread.
  2. Top each of the bread slices with :
    1 Slice Sourdough Bread;.
  3. In a flat 8 inch × 8 inch baking dish, whisk together :
    2 Large Eggs;
    1/3 Cup Almond Milk;
    2 Teaspoons Sugar;
    1/4 Teaspoon Salt;
    1/8 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg;.
  4. Melt :
    1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter;
    in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. One at a time, carefully set the sandwiches in the batter for a couple of seconds each, then turn once to coat the other side.
  6. Transfer to the skillet, taking care to hold the sandwiches together.
  7. Cook the sandwiches until the cheese begins to melt and the bread turns golden, 3 to 4 minutes.
  8. Carefully flip the sandwiches over and use a spatula to gently press them down, concentrating on the edges to help seal them a bit.
  9. Cook until the second side is browned and the cheese is completely melted.
  10. Transfer the sandwiches to a cutting board and cut them in half.
  11. Set on a plates and dust lightly with :
    Confectioner’s Sugar, ( Optional );.
  12. Serve with :
    Strawberry Jam;
    for dipping.
